Watch this video! 2,097,644 views at this moment! Posted December 21, 2007, less than one month ago. That’s one for the history books! Wow! I mean Wii! …or Wow Wii!!!! My response is below the video:
I think Wii can go stereoscopic… really… I think Wii can!
For stereoscopic viewing, I bet we’ll need two Wii consoles, both using the same setup as in the video, i.e. a set of IR sensors (the thing that sits on the TV) on our heads.
The rest should be just like hooking up two cameras, i.e. the Wii consoles would be the stereoscopic “camera”… then getting the two separate signals to each eye (anaglyph, shutterglasses, autostereoscopic display, etc), i.e. the same challenge we have now (or Wii have now with 3D video… solvable, BTW.
I haven’t watched the video real closely, and I don’t how the IR sensor is bouncing the signal from the top of your head back to the TV and back to your Wii remotes… a mirror or something? I guess we’ll need two remotes, too, come to think if it.
Hmmm…
Since getting one Wii is challenging (sold out most most places, I think, unless they’ve got stock in after Christmas), getting two of them might be tough.
Something to think about, for sure! I want one!… The first day we bowled with it, I imagined the ball traveling “into” the TV in positive parallax space. That would be the ultimate experience. It almost feels “real” in 2D… imagine it in 3D!
